Effective Anticoagulant Care Begins with the Right Team
Anticoagulation medications are used to treat life-threatening conditions such as deep vein thrombosis, stroke, heart attacks, heart valve disease, and pulmonary embolism. Commonly prescribed anticoagulants include, but are not limited to, warfarin, enoxaparin, heparin, rivaroxaban, apixaban, dabigatran, and edoxaban. These medications can be dangerous if not monitored and managed properly.
Many factors influence the effectiveness of anticoagulants, including diet, vitamins, supplements, other medications, and physical activity. Even slight variations in these factors can affect how well the medication works and your protection against clotting complications.
To achieve the best outcomes from your anticoagulation therapy, it is important to regularly monitor your daily and weekly habits in collaboration with your primary care provider, specialists, or a certified anticoagulation pharmacist at Grand Lake Health System.
